Privacy

For the Clicksaur browser extension and clicksaur.com. Last changed 26 October 2026.

Clicksaur keeps what you mark in your browser. It has no account and no server of its own. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you switch on an online feature, and Firefox asks you to confirm before it turns on.

What Clicksaur keeps, and where

Your highlights, notes, flags, clippings, notebook and settings are kept in the storage your browser gives each extension (storage.local), on your computer. They aren't synced or sent anywhere. Removing the extension removes them. To move them to another computer, use the notebook's backup, a file that you save and keep.

Pictures the magnifier and the Developer tools take of a tab are made in your browser and stay there.

What it collects

Nothing by default. When you install Clicksaur, Firefox lists its required data collection as none, and two optional kinds: website content and browsing activity. They belong to two switches in Settings → Online. Both start off, and Firefox asks you to confirm before either turns on. Turning a switch off withdraws the permission.

Until a switch is on, those menu items say what they need and link to Settings. Those services handle what they receive under their own privacy policies.

Things you click that open another site

A few menu items take you to another site, the way a link does. Each one runs only when you click it, and its label names where it goes:

This website

clicksaur.com has no analytics and sets no cookies. It remembers the theme you pick in your browser's local storage. The menu you can try on the home page keeps everything in memory and forgets it when you leave, except that Define and Synonyms there ask Wiktionary and Datamuse, as the extension does. The site is served by Cloudflare, which handles requests under its own policy.

Changes

If something Clicksaur sends changes, this page and the extension's Settings change with it before the new version is released, and nothing new is sent without asking you first.
